Australian quarantine rules upsetting top tennis stars

Remember a time when we could all jump on a plane and go places? Or even go places! The world is trying to come to terms with both containing the coronavirus spread and the measures aimed at doing just that.

For most of us (mere mortals) foreign travel isn’t even on the radar until 2022 if then but elite sports stars around the world do have the opportunity to get outside 5k of their house or apartment due to their job.

Some of them even get to travel internationally (like wow!) but going abroad forevermore is likely to involve some degree of coronavirus prevention measure.

Anyone who watches Border Patrol on TV or who has passed through Sydney, Melbourne or Perth airports (among others) will be aware of how strict the Aussies are about who or what crosses their borders.

Even horses competing for the Melbourne Cup have had to spend weeks in quarantine for weeks before training down under for ‘the race that stops a nation’.

Now the two legged sports stars are enduring the same regulations but being treated like a regular Sean or Sile citizen isn’t going down too well with one of the world’s top tennis stars.

Under the Oz quarantine rules anyone visiting has to spend 2 weeks in a state hotel to obtain permission to enter the county ( Cost 3k!) But now Novak Djokovic is ahem..at Break Point😉 as he and the rest of the players arriving into Victoria get ready for the delayed Australian Open tennis championship.

The world number 1 is upset over the state of the grub and the cooped up conditions in the room but the authorities aren’t buying it!

It’s not all the blokes whingeing either.

The girlfriend of Bernard Tomic is a case in point!

Another elite sports star who has had to undergo the quarantine process recently is Ireland’s own Rob Kearney who has landed down under to close out his rugby playing career with Perth outfit Western Force.

Rob and fiancee Jess Redden SURVIVED the fortnight in their hotel and are now enjoying their new life in Oz.

The pair documented their impressive fitness journey on their social media accounts.

But Rob couldn’t resist a bit of Irish humour over the moaning of the tennis stars!
